A TORNADO WARNING DELIVERY SERVICE

FOR THE CITIZENS OF GORE, OK

The Town of Gore has renewed its partnership with WeatherCall, a state of the art storm warning service hosted exclusively in the Tulsa area by KTUL News Channel 8.  Businesses and residents inside Gore town limits who did not enroll last year once again have opportunity to sign-up for the service. The enrollment is for notification of tornado warnings delivered to one phone number per address, and is free of charge to Gore businesses and residents.  Businesses and residents choosing to participate will have an open enrollment period until Wednesday, August 31, 2011, to register.

The WeatherCall system will assign a latitude/longitude to each address.

When the National Weather Service in Tulsa issues a warning, WeatherCall compares the latitude/longitude of the warning area with the latitude/longitude coordinates of each record in the Gore database, and will make 3 attempts to call that number and deliver a pre-recorded tornado warning message from Channel 8 Chief Meteorologist, Frank Mitchell.  If there is no answer, the message will be delivered to a voice messaging system if available.

Because it uses computerized mapping and compares the precise location of your home with the actual warning area defined by the National Weather Service in Tulsa, the WeatherCall system eliminates false warnings. You only receive a phone call notification if you are actually in the area of threat.

Sequoyah and Adair County’s combined 1250 square miles are under a tornado warning. Gore residents would NOT receive a WeatherCall notification because the actual warning area is several miles to the east, and NOT impacting the town.

TWO WEATHERCALL OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR THE

BUSINESSES AND RESIDENTS OF GORE

  • The town of Gore will provide the basic service which delivers tornado warnings to one registered telephone for each business and residence inside the town boundaries.  (This offer provides approximately one year of service, and may be extended / offered again in the future.)
  • The full-service version of WeatherCall delivers tornado warnings + optional severe thunderstorm calls and flash flood e-mail and/or SMS text warnings for up to 3 telephone numbers and 3 e-mail addresses per location is available for an annual fee of $3.75.

Please decide whether you want to register for the free, limited version of WeatherCall or the full-feature version and click on the link of your choice.  If you want the full-featured version, please have a credit card available to complete the payment for your registration.
